Other than the rich chocolatey goodness, and delightful red highlights, there are two surprises here.
The first is this cake is made with stout beer. That’s right. And wow, is it so good. Not cloyingly sweet, rich with chocolate and satisfyingly dense. If you want to find the recipe for this Rich Chocolate Stout Two Layer Cake with semi-sweet chocolate cream paired with Raspberry Berlinerweisse , head over here:
The second surprise, is that red stuff in the champagne glasses is also beer. And I would venture to say, as much as I like wine, this pairing is far superior to matching any cake to a dessert wine (or any wine for that matter). This amazing beer was featured in February on Beerscene if you want to learn more about it. If you are a wine drinker, and are partial to champagne, you’ll want to learn more about it.
I enjoyed this shoot, needless to say.
The icing on this cake is super simple – semi sweet chocolate and heavy cream. How pure can you go? Put those butter-cream icings away!
