Cinemagraphs

What are Cinemagraphs?

If you come across a video post in your Instagram feed it virtually looks the same as a still image, except it moves. This encouraged me to experiment with creating a user experience where the work still feels like a still image except parts of it moves. These are often called cinemagraphs.

How Best to View Cinemagraphs?

Cinemagraphs are usually best experienced as looped animations so that they continually play. The Cinemagraphs were created with the intention that they would be discovered in your Instagram feed, where videos autoplay and autoloop, and look virtually the same as a still image. The effect was to create a “moving still image”.

There haven’t been many good “venues” to display cinemagraphs otherwise until more recently when online NFT galleries were developed.

These, like my other latest works, are self-shots. I’ve combined photography with video editing and either 3D modelling or AI software.
