I consider myself a “multipotentiate”.
I don’t have one calling, I have many callings. I’ve been fortunate in like that I have been given many opportunities to both expand upon and make use of my diverse background and interests.
After travelling to and living in England working in film, television and advertising industries for a few years I came back to graduate with honours from Ryerson University with an Applied Arts degree in Image Arts specializing in film in 2000.
After I graduated from Ryerson I freelanced number of years in the film and television industry in a variety of roles from camera person to producer and director. Some of the photographic images made it on the cover of a companion book for a documentary series she also worked on called the Ways We Live, Exploring Community
Later worked in marketing in both web as a producer and project manager and video producer, director and editor before going out on my own running Noetic Media and freelancing and doing my own various creative projects in video, the web and photography. Along the way while writing a comprehensive business plan for a brewery I also picked up a certificate in Brand and Product Management from IE Business School.
From a photographic perspective I am always experimenting. I enjoy special effect work and wold like to devote more time to my love of post-production. But my spiritual journey involves spending hours on the hunt for interesting light and mood. In my mind I meditate on the mysteries and miracles of the universe as seen in sky and on the planet.
My fine art photography work reflects this in my landscapes, waterscapes and skies. I like to shoot at night, or during magic hour in and around Ontario, Canada and the northern US. But before you think I am all about nature, I am also interested urban abstracts and settings, light at night as expression of the complex animal that is us. For we too, are a mysterious product of the universe.
You can have a look at some of my work on the front page of this site.
For the tech heads out there, I primarily use a full frame Canon digital camera on wider lenses, unless it’s food and I shoot with a 50mm very fast lens. I love to shoot long exposures.
Combining my practical business background with marketing with photography, I’ve also been branching out into food and beverage industry where I can shoot when it’s not quite so pretty outside. You can see some of my product and food photography work here.
