So if you know me I sometimes go down a rabbit hole on things. One of the rabbit holes lately, among other things has been light painting. I want to shoot something with this technique (I can’t tell you what – it’s still a secret!), but the idea I have is a big job so I thought I’d try some smaller scale projects first. I’ve done light painting before with lights into the camera, rather than as a light source, but I know that it’s one of those things where you can only learn by trial and error.
This shoot was my first experiment and this was my favourite out of the bunch. This lovely thing was shot at f18 for 30 seconds and was lit with a flashlight. Yes, you heard me: a flashlight.
The thing was kicking around on the driveway in front of the garage for ages, and I kept tripping over it (curses, it’s heavy). I thought it would be a perfect subject. I liked it so much I decided to do some other experiments which I will post shortly.
